.Net Architect / Lead Developer Location: New York City, NY (Hybrid Preferred | EST Hours Required) Position Type: Contract Overview We are seeking an experienced .Net Architect / Lead Developer to support a high-profile enterprise modernization initiative within a large-scale public sector environment.
This role will lead architecture, technical strategy, and application modernization efforts for mission-critical enterprise systems supporting workflow automation, reporting, compliance validation, scheduling, and system integrations.
The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in Microsoft-based enterprise architecture, modern application development, scalable API design, and enterprise system integration. This individual will serve as both a technical leader and hands-on architect throughout the software development lifecycle. Key ResponsibilitiesArchitecture & Technical Leadership
Design and implement enterprise application architecture and modernization strategies

Architect scalable RESTful APIs and service-oriented solutions
Support modernization and re-platforming of legacy enterprise applications
Provide technical leadership across all SDLC phases including planning, design, development, testing, deployment, and support
Development & Integration
Develop scalable enterprise solutions utilizing:
.NET / ASP.NET Core
React JS
SQL Server
Microservices Architecture
Azure DevOps
Support CI/CD pipelines, release management, and deployment strategies
Participate in enterprise integration and interoperability initiatives across hybrid environments
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
Collaborate closely with:
Project Managers
Business Analysts
Developers
QA Teams
Enterprise Stakeholders
Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards, security requirements, and development best practices
Mentor developers and provide architectural guidance around scalability, performance, and maintainability
Required Qualifications
8+ years of experience in enterprise application architecture and software development
Experience working within Microsoft-based enterprise ecosystems
Experience with workflow automation, compliance systems, reporting platforms, or large enterprise operational systems
Experience supporting hybrid cloud and on-prem enterprise environments
Public sector or highly regulated industry experience preferred
Work Environment
Hybrid work environment with preference for candidates located near the NYC metro area
EST business hours required
Occasional onsite meetings and stakeholder sessions may be required
