Senior Data Engineer / Data Platform Architect (AWS + Databricks)

About the Opportunity
CornerStone Staffing is partnering with a growing organization undergoing a major data platform transformation initiative. We are seeking a highly hands-on Senior Data Engineer / Data Platform Architect to help design, build, and scale a modern cloud-based data ecosystem from the ground up.
This is not a maintenance-focused role within an already mature platform environment. The ideal candidate has experience building modern data platforms end-to-end within small-to-mid-sized organizations and can drive architecture, data modeling, ingestion strategy, and analytics enablement in partnership with business stakeholders.
This role requires both deep technical expertise and strong communication skills, as this individual will work directly with leadership, technical teams, and business users to help shape the company’s long-term data strategy.
What You’ll Do
• Design and build a scalable modern data platform using AWS and Databricks
• Develop and maintain robust ELT/ETL pipelines supporting enterprise reporting and analytics
• Lead architecture and data modeling efforts across raw, curated, and business-facing data layers
• Integrate data from multiple enterprise systems, APIs, SaaS platforms, and operational sources
• Implement modern analytics engineering practices using tools such as dbt and Fivetran
• Build scalable ingestion and transformation frameworks supporting Power BI and enterprise analytics
• Partner directly with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into scalable technical solutions
• Drive platform modernization initiatives, including migration away from legacy reporting and data environments
• Establish data quality, governance, monitoring, and operational best practices across the platform
• Optimize performance and scalability across Databricks, SQL workloads, and cloud storage environments
• Collaborate closely with engineering, BI, and leadership teams to define long-term data architecture strategy
• Provide hands-on leadership while remaining deeply technical in implementation and delivery
What You Bring
• 5+ years of hands-on data engineering experience in modern cloud environments
• Proven experience building data platforms from the ground up rather than supporting already mature environments
• Strong experience with Databricks in production enterprise environments
• Strong AWS experience including services such as S3, Lambda, Glue, Athena, IAM, and cloud-native architectures
• Advanced SQL and Python development skills
• Experience with dbt, Fivetran, and modern ELT frameworks
• Strong data modeling and analytics engineering experience
• Experience supporting Power BI or enterprise BI/reporting environments
• Experience working directly with business stakeholders and gathering technical requirements
• Strong understanding of scalable cloud architecture and distributed data processing
• Experience designing enterprise-grade ingestion, transformation, and semantic data layers
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to interface across technical and non-technical teams
Highly Preferred
• Experience building platforms within small-to-mid-sized organizations
• Experience leading greenfield data platform initiatives
• Experience designing modern lakehouse or medallion-style architectures
• Experience with Terraform or Infrastructure-as-Code
• Experience with real-time or event-driven architectures
• SAP or ERP integration experience
