Overview We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst to support enterprise tax systems and business process improvement initiatives for a state government agency. This role serves as a key liaison between business operations and technology, helping improve tax collection processes, analyze integrated tax system data, identify opportunities for operational improvements, and recommend system enhancements.
The ideal candidate has experience with state government tax systems, process improvement, stakeholder engagement, and business analysis, along with the ability to translate operational needs into practical business and technology solutions. Key Responsibilities
Business Analysis & Process Improvement
Analyze business processes and identify opportunities to improve tax collection operations.
Evaluate current workflows and recommend enhancements to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
Gather business requirements and translate them into actionable system improvements.
Analyze business issues and recommend practical solutions for operational challenges.
Tax Systems Analysis
Analyze data within integrated tax systems to support collections activities.
Evaluate existing reports and recommend new reporting capabilities.
Identify opportunities to improve system functionality through enhancements and automation.
Perform detailed account and data analysis to support operational decision-making.
Stakeholder Collaboration
Partner with business leaders, management, IT staff, and operational teams.
Facilitate discussions to identify business needs and recommend solutions.
Provide regular project updates and communicate recommendations clearly.
Build strong working relationships across business and technology teams.
Reporting & Data Analysis
Analyze collection reports and identify trends that support improved business performance.
Recommend enhancements to reporting capabilities.
Support business users by identifying and resolving data-related issues.
Maintain knowledge of integrated tax systems and related business processes.
Leadership & Team Support
Mentor team members and share knowledge of tax systems and business processes.
Assist in training users on system functionality and reporting.
Support continuous improvement initiatives throughout the organization.
Participate in special projects related to tax systems and collections operations.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (completed and verifiable).
3+ years of Business Analysis or Process Improvement experience.
3+ years working with integrated tax systems.
3+ years training or supporting users on tax data or tax systems.
3+ years of State Government experience.
3+ years of SharePoint experience.
Experience analyzing business processes and recommending system improvements.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with GenTax.
Experience supporting tax collections or revenue operations.
Leadership or supervisory experience.
Experience creating business solutions for enterprise process improvements.
