Senior Web Application Engineer (Drupal / WordPress / PHP)
CornerStone Technology Talent Services is partnering with a leading enterprise organization seeking a highly skilled Senior Web Application Engineer to lead the design, development, modernization, and support of business-critical web platforms.

This opportunity is ideal for a hands-on technical leader who enjoys owning the full web application lifecycle—from architecture and requirements gathering through deployment, optimization, and ongoing support. The successful candidate will combine deep development expertise with strong stakeholder communication skills and the ability to mentor teams while delivering scalable, secure, and accessible web solutions.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Lead the design, architecture, and development of enterprise web applications and public-facing websites.
  • Partner with business stakeholders, designers, and technical teams to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Build, enhance, and maintain both front-end and back-end web applications.
  • Develop and customize advanced Drupal and WordPress functionality, modules, themes, and integrations.
  • Modernize and maintain legacy PHP applications while implementing current development best practices.
  • Create responsive, accessible, and cross-browser compatible user experiences.
  • Integrate web applications with internal business systems, APIs, and third-party platforms.
  • Participate in application architecture discussions, technical planning sessions, and solution design reviews.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, optimize, and remediate application issues across multiple environments.
  • Identify and resolve application security vulnerabilities and implement secure coding practices.
  • Support deployment activities, upgrades, patches, and production releases.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and knowledge transfer to both technical and non-technical users.
  • Participate in occasional after-hours support for critical system updates and production incidents.
Required Technical Experience Core Development
  • 5+ years of professional experience developing, debugging, and maintaining web-based applications in collaborative development environments.
  • Strong experience with the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Advanced proficiency with PHP development and web application architecture.
  • Experience building and maintaining enterprise CMS solutions.
CMS Platforms
  • Deep experience with:
    • Drupal (custom modules, themes, upgrades, maintenance)
    • WordPress (custom development, plugins, integrations, administration)
  • Full CMS lifecycle experience including installation, configuration, deployment, upgrades, and production support.
Front-End Technologies
  • Advanced HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and modern client-side development practices.
  • Experience creating responsive, mobile-friendly user interfaces.
  • Strong understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG/ADA compliance).
  • Cross-browser compatibility and performance optimization expertise.
Infrastructure & Databases
  • Experience working within Linux environments.
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases including MySQL and SQL-based platforms.
  • Experience configuring and supporting Apache web servers.
  • Familiarity with application performance tuning and troubleshooting.
Security & Best Practices
  • Experience identifying and remediating application security vulnerabilities.
  • Knowledge of secure coding principles and CMS security hardening.
  • Experience applying CMS patches, updates, and vulnerability remediation.
Preferred Experience
  • Enterprise-level Drupal administration and customization.
  • Experience modernizing legacy web applications.
  • Exposure to API integrations and headless CMS architectures.
  • UI/UX collaboration experience.
  • Adobe Creative Suite experience, including Photoshop.
  • Experience creating digital forms and interactive content.
  • Graphic design capabilities for professional web deployments.
  • Experience supporting government, highly regulated, or large enterprise environments.
