ADABAS Natural Programmer Location: Columbia, SC (Primarily Remote with Occasional Onsite Requirements) Position Type: Long-Term Contract Overview We are seeking an experienced ADABAS Natural Programmer to support critical retirement and financial services applications within a stable enterprise environment.
This role will focus on application development, production support, system enhancements, and maintenance activities utilizing Natural and ADABAS technologies. The ideal candidate has a strong background in legacy application development, financial or payroll systems, and enjoys collaborating with both technical and business teams.

Develop, modify, test, and implement applications utilizing Natural and ADABAS technologies
Support and enhance retirement claims and financial services systems
Troubleshoot production issues and provide ongoing application support
Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle including:
Analysis
Design
Development
Testing
Deployment
Maintenance
Business & Technical Collaboration
Work closely with business users, analysts, and technical teams to gather requirements and implement solutions
Translate business requirements into effective technical solutions
Support both technical and non-technical stakeholders throughout project lifecycles
Documentation & Knowledge Transfer
Create and maintain technical documentation
Provide mentoring, training, and technical guidance to staff members
Assist with knowledge transfer and best practices within the development team
Required Qualifications
6+ years of hands-on experience with:
Natural Programming
ADABAS Databases
Experience working within the NaturalONE / Eclipse development environment
Experience supporting and troubleshooting production applications
Strong understanding of payroll, accounting, financial, or benefits-related systems
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with:
JCL
Batch processing
Online transaction processing
Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation
Knowledge of software version control and development best practices
Experience integrating legacy applications with modern technologies
Retirement systems experience is highly desirable
Work Environment
Primarily remote position
Occasional onsite work may be required in Columbia, SC
Collaborative team environment with experienced developers and technical leadership
Long-term engagement supporting mission-critical enterprise systems
