Job Description

Enterprise IT Project Manager – PMP
Columbia, SC | Hybrid | 12-Month Contract with Extension Potential

CornerStone Tech Talent is seeking an accomplished Enterprise IT Project Manager to lead complex, high-visibility technology initiatives within a large-scale enterprise environment.

This opportunity is built for a seasoned Project Manager who understands what it takes to move a major technology program from planning through implementation and production. We are looking for someone who can operate comfortably between executive stakeholders, business teams, technical architects, developers, infrastructure teams, vendors, and operational groups while maintaining ownership of scope, schedule, dependencies, risk, and delivery.

This is not a Project Coordinator, Scrum Master-only, or administrative PM position. The ideal candidate has personally led large-scale production technology implementations and can demonstrate ownership of complex enterprise IT delivery.
Why Work with CornerStone Tech Talent?
CornerStone Tech Talent connects experienced technology professionals with meaningful, business-critical initiatives where their expertise can make an immediate impact.

Our recruiting team understands technology and takes the time to understand the difference between simply managing a project plan and successfully leading enterprise technology delivery. We work to align candidates with opportunities where their background, technical understanding, leadership style, and career goals make sense.

For this engagement, we are specifically looking for a Project Manager who can bring structure, accountability, communication, and execution discipline to a sophisticated enterprise technology environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
As the Enterprise IT Project Manager, you will take ownership of major technology initiatives involving large-scale systems and production implementations.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Lead enterprise technology projects from planning and requirements through implementation, production deployment, stabilization, and project closeout
• Build and maintain integrated project plans, schedules, milestones, dependencies, critical paths, and deliverables
• Coordinate work across application development, infrastructure, architecture, security, data, testing, operations, vendors, and business teams
• Drive project execution while maintaining visibility into scope, schedule, resources, risks, issues, and dependencies
• Facilitate technical and business project meetings and ensure decisions, owners, and action items are clearly documented and followed through
• Identify delivery risks early and develop practical mitigation and contingency strategies
• Manage cross-functional dependencies that can affect development, testing, deployment, and production readiness
• Coordinate implementation planning, release readiness, cutover activities, and production-transition efforts
• Provide clear project status reporting to technical leadership, business stakeholders, executives, and other decision-makers
• Manage stakeholder expectations and communicate changes, risks, blockers, and decisions before they affect delivery
• Maintain project governance, documentation, schedules, RAID logs, status reporting, and executive-level project communications
• Partner with technical teams without needing to be the engineer in the room while understanding enough about enterprise technology to ask the right questions and identify delivery risks
• Balance structured project-management discipline with the flexibility required in complex enterprise environments
• Keep multiple teams aligned around milestones, priorities, ownership, and measurable outcomes
What We’re Looking For
The strongest candidate will bring a combination of enterprise IT experience, technical fluency, project leadership, and large-scale implementation experience.
Required Experience
7+ years of professional Project Management experience
7+ years of experience working within Information Technology environments
7+ years of experience supporting or leading large-scale production system implementations
• Active Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
• Bachelor’s degree
• Demonstrated ownership of complex, enterprise-level IT projects
• Experience managing projects involving multiple technical teams, business units, vendors, and stakeholders
• Strong experience developing and managing detailed project schedules and implementation plans
• Demonstrated experience managing project risks, issues, dependencies, scope, milestones, and deliverables
• Experience taking technology projects through implementation and into production environments
• Strong written, verbal, executive, and stakeholder communication skills
• Ability to translate technical project activity into clear business-facing status and risk communications
Technical Environment
You do not need to be a software engineer or infrastructure architect, but you should be comfortable leading projects involving technical professionals and enterprise systems.

Experience working with environments involving some of the following is highly valuable:

• Enterprise application development and implementation
• Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
• Production releases and deployment planning
• Application integration and interconnected enterprise systems
• Infrastructure and platform dependencies
• Data conversion or data migration
• Testing, UAT, defect management, and release readiness
• Security and compliance requirements
• Vendor and third-party system integrations
• Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery methodologies
• Microsoft Project
• Azure DevOps or Team Foundation Server (TFS)
• SharePoint
• Power BI
• Enterprise reporting and project dashboards

The best fit will understand that large technology implementations rarely exist within one team. Success requires anticipating dependencies across applications, infrastructure, security, data, testing, operations, vendors, and the business.
Highly Desired Experience
Candidates will stand out if they bring experience with:

Child Support Enforcement systems or related human-services technology platforms
• State or local government technology programs
• Health and human services systems
• Large public-sector technology modernization initiatives
• Highly regulated enterprise environments
• Mission-critical systems supporting large user populations
• Complex legacy-system modernization or replacement initiatives
• Multi-vendor technology environments
• Enterprise system implementation, conversion, or modernization programs

Direct Child Support Enforcement experience is especially valuable because these environments can involve complex eligibility and case-management workflows, financial processing, interfaces with external agencies, regulatory requirements, data exchanges, and mission-critical production systems.
What Success Looks Like
We are looking for someone who has actually owned delivery.

Your background should demonstrate situations where you have:

• Taken accountability for a complex IT project rather than simply supported another Project Manager
• Led major systems through implementation and production deployment
• Coordinated multiple technical workstreams simultaneously
• Challenged unrealistic timelines or identified delivery risks before they became production problems
• Managed dependencies among technical teams, vendors, business stakeholders, and leadership
• Recovered or stabilized projects when milestones were at risk
• Created executive-level visibility without losing command of detailed project execution
• Successfully operated in environments where priorities, technical dependencies, and project conditions changed during delivery
Who This Role Is Not Designed For
This opportunity is unlikely to be the right match if your experience is primarily:

• Project coordination or administrative project support
• Scrum Master work without overall project-delivery ownership
• Business analysis without significant Project Management responsibility
• Non-technical project management
• Small departmental projects with limited technical complexity
• Product Management without responsibility for enterprise implementation
• IT operations management without direct project-delivery ownership
• PMO reporting without accountability for project execution
• Projects that ended before implementation or production deployment

We are specifically interested in Project Managers who can clearly explain what they personally owned, what was implemented, how complex the environment was, what went wrong, how they addressed it, and what ultimately went into production.
Location Requirements
This position is based in Columbia, South Carolina and follows a hybrid schedule requiring three days per week onsite.

Candidates must currently reside in South Carolina. Relocation candidates cannot be considered.

The work arrangement may transition to fully onsite based on business needs, so candidates must be comfortable working onsite full-time if required.
Engagement Details
• 12-month consulting engagement
• Opportunity for contract extension
• Full-time, 40 hours per week
• Monday through Friday schedule
• Hybrid environment with three days per week onsite in Columbia, SC
• Potential transition to fully onsite work
• No routine weekend schedule expected
What to Include in Your Resume
Because this is a senior-level enterprise Project Management opportunity, your resume should clearly demonstrate the scope and complexity of the projects you have led.

For each relevant project, we strongly recommend identifying:

• The system, platform, or technology being implemented
• Your role and level of ownership
• Project size and complexity
• Number and types of teams involved
• Whether the project reached production
• Your involvement in implementation or deployment
• Vendors or third parties you coordinated
• Technical and business stakeholders involved
• Project-management methodology used
• Major risks, challenges, or dependencies you managed
• Project-management and reporting tools used
• Measurable project outcomes when available

Simply stating that you “managed IT projects” will not communicate the depth of experience required for this opportunity.
