Position: Senior Mainframe Programmer
Location: 100% Remote (Must reside in TX, AZ, KY, TN, GA, SC, NC, FL)
Schedule: Must be available to work Eastern Time business hours
Duration: Long-Term Contract with Extension Potential

CornerStone Technology Talent Services is partnering with a large public-sector technology organization supporting one of the nation's most complex and mission-critical healthcare platforms. We are seeking an experienced Senior Mainframe Programmer who thrives in large enterprise environments and enjoys maintaining and enhancing high-volume transaction processing systems that directly impact millions of users.

This is an opportunity to work alongside seasoned development, QA, and operations teams on a stable, enterprise-scale platform where reliability, performance, and code quality are essential.
What You'll Do
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise COBOL applications supporting critical business operations.
  • Perform analysis, coding, debugging, unit testing, and integration testing for production enhancements and maintenance requests.
  • Work within an IDMS database environment to implement application changes and resolve production issues.
  • Collaborate with developers, QA engineers, business stakeholders, and infrastructure teams throughout the SDLC.
  • Support production applications and participate in an on-call rotation for critical system support.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation while following established development standards and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot complex application issues across multiple interconnected mainframe systems.
Required Technical Experience
  • 10+ years of enterprise Mainframe development
  • 10+ years of MVS COBOL programming
  • 10+ years working with IDMS (Network and/or Relational Database)
  • 10+ years of CA-ADS development
  • 5+ years of JCL
  • Strong experience with production support, debugging, and application maintenance
  • Experience working throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
Preferred Experience
Candidates with experience in any of the following will stand out:
  • ChangeMan
  • File-AID
  • FootPrints
  • SAS
  • Healthcare, Medicaid, insurance claims, or other large government enterprise systems

  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Experience supporting mission-critical production applications
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced enterprise environments with multiple concurrent priorities
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate across development, QA, and business teams
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 10+ years of enterprise application development experience
  • Must reside within the Continental United States
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
