IT Project Manager

Type: Contract
Location: Columbia, SC 29201
Work Setting: Hybrid (4 days onsite, 1 day remote)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced IT Project Manager to lead multiple medium-to-complex technology initiatives within a healthcare-focused environment. This position works closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery, effective stakeholder engagement, and high-quality outcomes.

This is an excellent opportunity for a project manager who enjoys working on complex, fast-paced projects, collaborating with diverse teams, and driving initiatives from planning through execution.

Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Assist with developing business requirements

  • Build project plans and execute against those plans

  • Manage project risks and issues

  • Ensure project deliverables and activities are completed with high quality and in a timely manner

  • Provide project status updates and strategic communications both verbally and in writing

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

  • Work with staff, project teams, management, vendors, and external organizations

  • Compile and manage information needed for project plans, portfolio/program plans, metrics, reports, and project management documentation

  • Develop a deep understanding of the business areas being supported to effectively manage project outcomes beyond schedule management

  • Facilitate collaboration among stakeholders with diverse and sometimes competing priorities

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Experience working with SharePoint and other typical project management tools, including Visio, PowerPoint, MS Project, Word, Access and Excel

  • Experience working with risk management, including risk triggers and managing risks to project plan tasks

  • Ability to create and document key project management documents and artifacts

  • Superb communications skills (written and oral)

  • Effective listener

  • Willingness and ability to effectively engage with people and organizations; ability to get people with competing, diverse interests to work together

  • Experience in Medicaid or other healthcare claims system(s) IT projects preferred, but not mandatory

  • Must be able to manage multiple high profile, high priority projects at one time

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • 3+ years of Project management

  • Strong background in project management in a healthcare insurance information technology environment.

  • Project planning experience, including effort estimation on technical tasks and resource allocation.

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Medicaid or Healthcare Delivery Systems

  • Project Management Professional Certification (PMP or PMI)

Additional Skills/Duties

  • People skills

  • Ability to learn content

  • Willingness and ability to effectively engage with people and organizations on a continuous basis.

  • Superb written and oral communications skills, including the ability to give presentations to executive management. Profiency in English is required.
