Senior Project Manager / PMO Schedule Consultant 100% onsite Columbia, SC Enterprise Technology Modernization | Healthcare & Government Programs

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager / PMO Schedule Consultant to support a multi-year modernization program focused on replacing legacy platforms, improving operational efficiency, and enabling scalable digital services.

What You'll Do
As a key member of the Program Management Office (PMO), you will serve as the primary owner of project schedule governance, planning, reporting, and performance monitoring across multiple workstreams.
Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and manage complex integrated project schedules supporting large-scale technology initiatives.

  • Build and maintain detailed Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) aligned to project objectives, deliverables, and milestones.

  • Partner with business leaders, technical teams, architects, vendors, and project managers to gather schedule updates and ensure alignment.

  • Monitor project critical paths, dependencies, milestones, and resource allocations.

  • Establish and enforce schedule management standards, governance processes, and reporting practices.

  • Review vendor project plans and schedules to ensure compliance with program management methodologies and best practices.

  • Track schedule variance, earned value metrics, and project performance indicators.

  • Produce executive-level dashboards, status reports, forecasts, and PMO reporting artifacts.

  • Facilitate schedule review meetings, planning sessions, and stakeholder discussions.

  • Support project estimation, resource forecasting, capacity planning, and timeline development.

  • Identify, track, and manage project risks, issues, dependencies, assumptions, and action items.

  • Collaborate with Agile and traditional project teams to ensure alignment between delivery plans and strategic objectives.
Ideal Background
We're looking for professionals who have successfully managed schedules and PMO functions within large enterprise technology programs, digital transformations, systems implementations, or modernization initiatives.
Required Experience

  • 3+ years of PMO experience supporting enterprise technology programs.

  • Experience creating and maintaining integrated project schedules, governance processes, and reporting frameworks.

  • Strong understanding of project lifecycle management, scope control, change management, risk management, and issue management.

  • Experience supporting software development, systems implementation, or technology modernization initiatives.

  • Hands-on experience with project planning, resource management, forecasting, and executive reporting.

  • Advanced proficiency with:

    • Microsoft Project

    • Microsoft Office Suite

    • Excel

    • PowerPoint

    • SharePoint

    • Visio
Preferred Experience

  • Experience with Microsoft Project Server and/or Project Web App (PWA).

  • Experience working within Agile, Hybrid, or SAFe delivery environments.

  • Background supporting large-scale enterprise transformations, government programs, healthcare systems, ERP implementations, or digital modernization efforts.

  • Experience overseeing third-party vendors, systems integrators, or consulting partners.
Education & Certifications Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Information Technology, Engineering, Project Management, or related field.

  • Equivalent combination of education and extensive project management experience will be considered.
Preferred

  • PMP (Project Management Professional)

  • PMI-SP (Scheduling Professional)

  • Agile or Scrum certifications

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
