SAP Basis Administrator

Type: Long-term Contract
Location: Columbia, SC 29201
Work Setting: Onsite

Overview

We are seeking an experienced SAP Basis Administrator to provide SAP Basis administration and infrastructure architecture support for a large-scale SAP environment. This position is responsible for the design, installation, administration, testing, performance optimization, and ongoing maintenance of SAP and third-party software solutions across a complex multi-system landscape.

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in SAP Basis administration, SAP Fiori Launchpad, SAP Gateway, Microsoft operating systems, SQL databases, and SAP infrastructure best practices. This position also requires strong technical leadership, documentation, training, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

SAP Basis Administration

  • Manage and maintain SAP and third-party applications.

  • Perform SAP software installations, upgrades, support package implementation, and add-on software installations.

  • Analyze system requirements and provide work estimates for administration and enhancement activities.

  • Support a five-system SAP landscape including system enhancements and project implementations.

  • Administer service packs, system copies, client copies, transport management, and system refreshes.

  • Configure and maintain standard SAP solutions and related infrastructure.

  • Establish OSS and EarlyWatch connections where appropriate.

  • Conduct SAP profile parameter changes, workload analysis, and system error analysis.

  • Establish and maintain standard Basis jobs, monitoring processes, and system health checks.

Architecture & Technical Leadership

  • Participate with technical and functional teams to develop implementation strategies, procedures, and best practices.

  • Assist in creating implementation roadmaps and deployment strategies.

  • Conduct impact analysis of new SAP releases and enhancements.

  • Provide technical consulting and mentoring to development, functional, integration, release management, and Basis teams.

  • Lead and participate in technical projects across multiple teams.

  • Leverage the latest SAP capabilities to support solution development and optimization.

Performance & Infrastructure

  • Analyze and optimize SAP system and database performance.

  • Implement tuning improvements for SAP Fiori environments.

  • Support Windows Server 201x–2025 and SQL 201x environments.

  • Maintain optimal disk layouts, file systems, OS tuning, and performance improvements.

  • Troubleshoot SAP infrastructure, operating systems, and database-related issues.

  • Support VMware-based virtualized environments.

SAP Fiori & Gateway

  • Provide hands-on expertise implementing and supporting SAP Fiori Launchpad and SAP Gateway.

  • Troubleshoot and maintain SAP Fiori environments.

  • Interface ECC with Fiori Launchpad using SAP applications and Web Dynpro technologies.

Documentation & Training

  • Create formal technical documentation and operational procedures.

  • Provide knowledge transfer through peer coaching, written documentation, and classroom instruction.

Communication & Risk Management

  • Provide effective oral and written communication to management, peers, and end users.

  • Identify, communicate, and escalate risks and issues in a timely manner.

Required Skills / Experience

  • 10+ years ABAP solution architecting experience

  • 10+ years of ABAP/Java software installation and configuration experience

  • 3+ years of practical maintenance and troubleshooting SAP Fiori launchpad

  • 5+ years of experience with SAP NetWeaver releases

  • 5+ years of experience with SAP in the Public Sector

Preferred Skills

  • Public Sector support for ECC 6.0 EHP8, SRM 7.04, BW7.5, and Portal 7.x

  • SAP upgrade and enhancement pack installation

  • MS Server 2019-2025

  • MS SQL database/2019

  • PM experience

Education

Required:
