Senior Microsoft Application Architect

Type: Direct Hire
Location: Phoenix, Arizona (Preferred)
Relocation: Candidates located in Phoenix are preferred; however, we are actively recruiting experienced professionals from Dallas-Fort Worth, Denver/Boulder, Salt Lake City, San Diego, Las Vegas, Albuquerque, Oklahoma City, Tucson, and El Paso. About the Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Microsoft Application Architect to help lead, support, and evolve a mature enterprise application environment. This individual will play a key role in establishing technical direction, designing and enhancing business-critical applications, creating development standards, mentoring team members, and partnering directly with business stakeholders to deliver technology solutions that support organizational growth.
This role is ideal for a hands-on technical leader who has successfully owned enterprise applications and understands how to balance architecture, development, business requirements, scalability, maintainability, and long-term technology strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and enhance enterprise-grade software applications

  • Establish and drive application architecture standards and best practices

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams to define technology strategy

  • Identify opportunities for application modernization and process improvement

  • Design scalable, maintainable, and reusable software solutions

  • Lead technical decision-making and architectural governance

  • Mentor developers and promote engineering excellence

  • Support reporting, data, security, and application integration initiatives

  • Participate in planning, estimation, prioritization, and delivery activities

  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions where appropriate

  • Ensure application performance, reliability, and long-term sustainability

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of Microsoft application development experience

  • Strong expertise in C# and .NET

  • Experience designing and supporting enterprise business applications

  • SQL Server design, development, and optimization experience

  • Reporting platform experience (SSRS, Power BI, or similar)

  • Desktop application experience (WinForms, WPF, or equivalent)

  • Application architecture and solution design experience

  • Experience creating development standards and technical governance

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Ability to operate independently while leading technical initiatives

Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate has spent their career building, supporting, and architecting enterprise Microsoft business applications. They have experience owning application architecture, leading technical initiatives, mentoring developers, designing SQL Server-based systems, supporting reporting platforms, and working directly with business stakeholders to solve complex operational challenges.
Candidates with modern Microsoft architecture experience—including Entity Framework Core, WPF, Power BI, Azure AD, and application modernization initiatives—are encouraged to apply, as these technologies often represent the natural evolution of the environments we support.
