Senior Business Intelligence Developer
Irving, TX | Onsite | Contract Opportunity

We’re seeking a Senior Business Intelligence Developer who goes beyond building reports. This opportunity is designed for an experienced BI professional who can take ownership of complex data problems—from understanding business requirements and designing data models to writing advanced SQL, optimizing data pipelines, and delivering trusted analytics solutions that leaders can use to make decisions.

What You'll Do

  • Own the design, development, enhancement, and optimization of enterprise Business Intelligence solutions.

  • Translate complex business and operational requirements into scalable data models, reporting structures, dashboards, and analytical solutions.

  • Develop and optimize advanced SQL queries, stored procedures, transformations, and data-processing logic used across BI and reporting environments.

  • Design data models that make complex information accessible, performant, and reliable for downstream reporting and analytics.

  • Build interactive and near-real-time dashboards that provide visibility into KPIs, operational performance, trends, and business outcomes.

  • Improve the performance and scalability of BI workflows and supporting data pipelines.

  • Perform deep-dive analysis across large and complex datasets to identify patterns, anomalies, trends, and actionable business insights.

  • Partner directly with business stakeholders to understand problems, challenge assumptions, define analytical requirements, and recommend effective data solutions.

  • Troubleshoot complex reporting, data-quality, performance, and BI platform issues.

  • Help establish and reinforce standards around data quality, governance, security, documentation, and BI development best practices.

  • Evaluate opportunities to modernize BI processes, architecture, and development practices.

  • Provide technical guidance, code/design feedback, and mentorship to less-experienced BI developers.

  • Operate as a senior technical contributor capable of independently driving BI initiatives from discovery through production.
What We're Looking For
We’re looking for someone with approximately 8+ years of progressive technology experience, with significant hands-on responsibility in Business Intelligence, analytics, data modeling, and enterprise data solutions.

Strong candidates will bring:

  • Advanced, hands-on SQL expertise, including complex querying, joins, CTEs, aggregations, transformations, performance tuning, and working with large datasets.

  • Strong understanding of relational and dimensional data modeling, including designing structures that support scalable analytics and reporting.

  • Experience developing production-grade BI dashboards and reporting solutions used by business or operational teams.

  • Experience building, maintaining, or optimizing ETL/ELT processes and data pipelines.

  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose data discrepancies, performance bottlenecks, and complex reporting issues.

  • Experience defining and monitoring business KPIs and transforming business questions into measurable analytical solutions.

  • Understanding of data governance, data quality, access controls, and enterprise data-management practices.

  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Experience independently owning complex initiatives rather than working exclusively from predefined specifications.

  • Previous experience providing technical leadership or mentoring other developers.

Experience with modern enterprise BI platforms, cloud data environments, data warehouses, lakehouse architectures, or contemporary analytics engineering practices is highly valuable.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Technology, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, or a closely related discipline is required.

Candidates should be prepared to provide verification of completed education as part of the submission process.

You should be comfortable opening an unfamiliar dataset, understanding how the underlying data relates, identifying quality or performance issues, developing the appropriate data structures and SQL logic, and ultimately turning that information into something meaningful for business stakeholders.

You’ll likely stand out if you can talk specifically about:

  • A complex BI solution you personally designed.

  • A difficult SQL or performance problem you solved.

  • A data model or architecture decision you made and why.

  • How you've handled data-quality discrepancies between systems.

  • A dashboard or analytics product that influenced an operational or business decision.

  • How you've improved an inefficient data pipeline or reporting process.

  • How you've partnered with stakeholders whose requirements were initially unclear.

  • How you've helped raise development standards or mentor other BI professionals.
